Q: We know there is no one way to become a principal. How did you get to where you are now?
A: I just kept seeking/ accepting as many leadership opportunities as possible until I became the right fit for the open position at Humphrey Elementary School.
Q: What is most rewarding about your work as a principal?
A: Working with wonderful students, staff and families every day!
Q: Being an A+ School of Excellence™ school means your school has an environment of inclusivity, opportunity, and uniqueness. If you could choose one thing that sets your school apart from others, what would it be?
A: Our balance between academic rigor and a fun learning environment!
Q: What inspired you to apply for the A+ School of Excellence™ Program?
A: As a staff, we knew we had a great school, and it was time for us to seek validation from outside judges and the AEF.
Q: What have you learned about your school since receiving the A+ award?
A: What we do well and the areas we need to improve.
Q: With the summer comes a break from students but not a break from work. What are your goals for this summer break?
A: To analyze data, and to identify more ways to recognize the accomplishments of our students and staff.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in the fall semester?
A: Utilizing formal assessments to drive instruction.
Q: Any advice or wisdom for other principals in Arizona?
A: You will see results in the areas you, as a principal, focus on and put your time and energy.
