Bobbie O’Boyle, Executive Director
Bobbie has served as Executive Director of the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) since 2001. She challenges herself each day to make a positive difference in education in Arizona through her work at AEF. Since 2001, Bobbie has grown AEF to include the Polly Rosenbaum Writing Contest, the Principals’ Leadership Academy of Arizona, UnitED, and Take Your Legislator to School programs. While striving to maintain the high quality and integrity of AEF’s programs, she entrusts the work of educating Arizona’s children to the experts: classroom teachers and exemplary school leaders.
Bobbie has worked in the nonprofit sector since 1999. She began her career in international banking after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.
Maggie Zehring, Deputy Director
Maggie began her work as Deputy Director at the Arizona Foundation in the fall of 2015. She joined the team with the singular goal of increasing the community’s knowledge of all of the good stories happening each day in public school classrooms across Arizona.
She manages communication outreach, public relations, and digital marketing, while assisting with the UnitED Program, Polly Rosenbaum Writing Contest, Spelling Bee, and Take Your Legislator to School program. Before joining the AEF team, Maggie was one of the youngest communication directors for a Arizona U.S. Congressman, community editor for a local Arizona magazine, and digital content consultant for small businesses and nonprofits.
Lee Nelson, Program Director for the Principals’ Leadership Academy of Arizona, A+ School of Excellence™
Lee Nelson has been the Program Director for the Principal’s Leadership Academy of Arizona since 2013. Her background as principal of a highly performing elementary school in the Litchfield Elementary District and as Arizona’s National Distinguished Principal (2008) has led her to a number of volunteer opportunities, community leadership roles and political activism.
Lee is a native of Ohio and has lived Arizona for the past 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Ohio University and a Masters in Educational Leadership at Wright State University.
