The 2015 Arizona Spelling Bee took place on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the AZ PBS/Walter Cronkite building in downtown Phoenix.
Marcus Behling, an 8th grade student at Arizona College Prep Erie in Chandler won the Arizona Spelling Bee and represented Arizona at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. on May 28, 2015. Marcus tied for 11th place among the 283 competitors from around the world. AEF congratulates Marcus on his outstanding accomplishments!
Runners up in the 2015 Arizona Spelling Bee included 2nd place winner Naina Misra, a 6th grader from Bagdad Middle School in Bagdad; 3rd place winner Ananya Eeraveni, an 8th grader from Western Sky Middle School in Goodyear; 4th place winner Savannah Turley, a 7th grader from Faith North School in Phoenix; and 5th place winner Henry Calkins, a 5th grader from Madison #1 Middle School in Phoenix.

The 2016 Arizona Spelling Bee will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Eight/AZ PBS, 500 N. Central Ave., 6th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
In order to participate in the 2016 Arizona Spelling Bee, students must attend a school that is enrolled with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The early-bird period for schools to enroll with Scripps is from August 14 to October 15, 2015. The enrollment fee for schools during the early-bird enrollment period is $136; the fee for home school family enrollment during the early-bird enrollment period is $94. The extended enrollment period is from October 16 to December 11, 2015. The enrollment fee for schools during the extended enrollment period is $211; the fee for home school family enrollment during the extended enrollment period is $169.
