Karen Bristow was named a 2017 AEF™Arizona Teacher of the Year Semifinalist in October, 2016. The Arizona Educational Foundation names ten top teachers in the Teacher of the Year program in honor of their success in their school and classroom communities.
Karen is a 12th Grade English Teacher at Buena High School of Sierra Vista Unified School District and is married to Buena High School Math Teacher, Roger Bristow. Roger also coaches Track and Cross Country.
Karen and Roger met in Tombstone, Arizona and have been married for 15 years. They have two sons: Aiden (8, almost 9) and Evan (6) and live in Hereford, just outside of Sierra Vista.
We decided to join Karen and her family on Tuesday so we could showcase on Twitter just what it takes to be her in live time! Our ‘live tweet’ of our time with her included morning hours with her family as they got ready for the day, with a main focus on Karen’s work at school.
Arizona PBS reporters joined us from dawn until dusk to share in the storytelling of Karen’s reality as a working mom and rural public school teacher in Southern Arizona. The PBS special will air in early March, 2017.
