Supporting Students with Dyslexia – For Teachers

Dyslexia affects up to 20% of our students, but many teachers have not been trained to support these struggling readers.  This presentation will equip teachers with knowledge and understanding of dyslexia and enable them to provide the support students with dyslexia need in our classrooms.

We will focus on:

• Dyslexia – what is it, and what are some signs and symptoms?
• Structured literacy – a template for reading instruction
• Accommodations and modifications for students with dyslexia
• Social/emotional implications of dyslexia
