Desert Vista High School
About this Designation"The A+ judging team would like to highlight the following points as the primary reason for DV's A+ School of Excellence Recognition.
During our meeting with students both in a formal and informal setting, all students expressed that they felt safe at school. Many students named the security team for their efforts to build relationships with them and fostering a sense of safety on campus. Additionally, students feel included and safe to be themselves. There's a strong sense of belonging and inclusion on the campus and students reiterated that peer to peer this is evident and also in their classrooms. The number of clubs and extra curricular offerings have met and exceeded student needs and students appreciate the opportunity, many shared the excitement for the new Waffle club as well.
The rigor and instructional excellence was highly evident on campus as well. The amount of honors, AP and dual enrollment course offerings teachers lead in support of their students is exceptional. Students highlighted this notion and their classroom experience was evident during observations. Instructional effectiveness is certainly a hallmark of the school.
In support of the positive school environment it was stated and evident that the teachers and staff care and love their students. This was expressed in many ways and throughout campus. Students know they are cared for, they feel safe and supported and the opportunity for engagement and challenging learning is present.
For this, DV is an A+ School of Excellence!"
