AEF Launches “Emerging Leaders Advisory Council” to Cultivate the Next Generation of Education Advocates

The Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF), Arizona’s leader in public education support, is forming an Emerging Leaders Advisory Council designed to cultivate the next generation of professionals committed to strengthening public schools in districts across the state.
Council member applications are open to anyone under 45 years of age who is looking to lend expertise to strategic initiatives and gain experience in nonprofit governance and board leadership. Over the course of the two-year term, members will participate in AEF’s signature programs, including A+ Schools of Excellence, the Arizona Teacher of the Year Awards, and the Arizona Spelling Bee, and will also serve as ambassadors for the organization, which was formed in 1983 to celebrate public education and provide programs that support educators and schools.
“Arizona’s future depends on the strength of its public education system,” said Kim Graham, AEF CEO. “By harnessing the talents and enthusiasm of rising community leaders we aim to drive that future forward. The Emerging Leaders Advisory Council creates a mutually beneficial platform that expands AEF’s network and gives members a platform to lead with purpose, develop valuable connections, and make a lasting impact.”
Members will attend three meetings each year: two in-person and one virtual; support AEF’s Shine Squad, which connects corporate volunteers with schools across Arizona to assist with a range of projects; and contribute a $1,500 leadership gift, either personally or through new sponsorships, to help fuel AEF’s mission.
Applications for the inaugural cohort of the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council are now open. To learn more or apply, visit azedfoundation.org/emerging-leaders.
