January 28, 2025

Brett Bonner, the Assistant Superintendent of the Sahuarita Unified School District in Sahuarita, will join the Arizona Educational Foundation on February 3, 2025, as Director of Professional Development and Dean of the AEF Academy.
In his new role, Bonner, whose career in education spans three decades, will oversee the Principals Leadership Academy of Arizona helping new and aspiring principals build leadership skills, learn best practices, and cultivate positive school environments. He will also work with AEF CEO Kim Graham on a new initiative to provide additional professional development opportunities statewide, as well as help facilitate the prestigious A+ School of Excellence program.
“Amazing things are happening every day in Arizona public schools, and there is great potential for growth as they work toward continuous school improvement, committing to professional training opportunities, and placing an increased focus on school leadership development,” Bonner noted.
As a former teacher and longtime STEAM advocate, Graham has built AEF into a multifaceted one-stop shop for advancing and showcasing public education in Arizona. She is looking forward to Bonner’s contributions.
“Brett not only knows firsthand the challenges schools face, he also knows what’s working really well,” Graham said. “That unique perspective will benefit the hundreds of teachers and administrators AEF works with each year through our myriad programs. We’re thrilled to have him join us.”
AEF was founded in 1983 by education champion Carolyn Warner and community leaders Bill Shover and Eddie Basha. Its mission is to celebrate excellence and cultivate opportunity in PK-12th grade Arizona public education.
