SRP Leader Appointed to Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF®) Board

The Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF®) is pleased to announce Grant Smedley, Director of Resource Planning, Acquisition, and Development at Salt River Project (SRP) will join the AEF Board of Directors

Smedley oversees a team that is responsible for planning, acquiring, and developing the power generation resources needed to provide affordable, reliable and sustainable power to more than 1 million customers in the greater Phoenix area. He previously served in leadership roles in several functional areas within SRP including Water Resources, Power Delivery Engineering, Research & Development, and Environmental Policy. Prior to joining SRP, Grant began his career as an environmental consultant with Trinity Consultants. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  

Smedley lives in Phoenix with his wife Janine and their two sons. He is passionate about public education and he, his wife, and children all attended public schools.

Smedley will play an integral role in providing governance and advancing AEF’s work, which began in 1983 when the organization was founded by then Superintendent of Public Instruction, Carolyn Warner.

“Grant is a tremendous leader, and his unique expertise will continue to help AEF reach over half a million Arizona students and educators each year,” states AEF CEO, Kim Graham.

“Serving on the Arizona Educational Foundation Board is such an honor,” states Dr. Pam Roggeman, AEF Board President. “We’re thrilled to welcome Grant to the AEF Board.” 

Smedley’s appointment to the AEF Board is for a two-year term.
