Pioneer Preparatory School; A Challenge Foundation Academy
About this DesignationPioneer Preparatory seeks to support the whole child and their family. This was evident from the moment we stepped onto the campus. Every member of the staff is invested in not only the academics of these learners but their social and emotional and physical well-being. New curriculum was added within the last several years, teachers are working to implement it with fidelity and continue to grow in their understandings and instructional practices. Professional development is focused on both academics and social emotional supports. It was a true pleasure to see the efforts Pioneer Preparatory is putting forth to build a learning environment that honors the strengths and challenges of their learners and empowers them to grow!

Conley Elementary School
About this Designation"Howard K. Conley Elementary earned the Arizona Educational Foundation A+ School of Excellence because it demonstrates the sustained, intentional practices the award recognizes: high academic expectations and results, inclusive student-centered programming, strong leadership and staff collaboration, meaningful family and community engagement, and continuous innovation focused on whole child development.
Conley emphasizes an inclusive environment where “every student thrives” and intentionally structures programming (schoolwide CLIPS, schoolwide electives for upper grades) to broaden access, not restrict enrichment to a subset of students. The school’s collaborative development of mission and values with families and students demonstrates culturally responsive leadership and responsiveness to community needs.
Rather than reverting to pre pandemic norms, Conley used the crisis as an impetus to innovate—expanding enrichment, redesigning intervention systems, and strengthening family connections. That adaptive leadership is central to A+ recognition, showing resilience and forward thinking that produce stronger systems for student learning.
Strong school culture and relationships was evident (increased enjoyment, stronger staff relationships, deeper sense of belonging) and anecdotal student testimony (e.g., student reflections on Selective Electives and CLIPS) show how Conley fosters trusting, motivating relationships. A learning culture defined by care, collaboration, and high expectations (the “Mission Possible” mindset) amplifies instructional effectiveness and student engagement.
Conley intentionally deepens family engagement and partnerships with local businesses and secondary CTE programs, aligning elementary experiences with future career pathways—another hallmark of exemplary schools that prepare students for life beyond elementary grades. The school’s achievements reflect coordinated leadership and teacher collaboration: shared vision creation, reflective practice, adaptive instruction, and a commitment to joyful, meaningful learning. Staff flexibility, communication, and collective problem solving are instrumental with every challenge Conley faces. Together, they have found a formula with love, compassion, intentionality, and exemplary leadership that works for their community.
Howard K. Conley Elementary’s co created mission and core values, measurable academic growth, innovative student centered programs (Selective Electives and CLIPS), inclusive access, resilient culture, and collaborative leadership collectively justify its recognition as an Arizona Educational Foundation A+ School of Excellence. Conley’s efficacious approach produces whole child development and prepares students to thrive academically, socially, and professionally—exemplifying the standards and ethos of the A+ designation."
